Well, I've been back for a few days, thought I'd just lay out some quick highlites of the trip:
- There is rain in the rainforest - All my expensive toys got jacked from our car (iPod, digital camera, gameboy, cell phone, etc...) - It was dark, in the forest... I pointed my flashlight down and found that I was standing in the middle of a line of Army Ants, and they crawled up my pants. They were angry, but being able to say that makes it so worth it. - I started speaking spanish pretty decently
It was alright, but no more family vacations for me. In other news, I shaved my whole face, it was crazy. I think I'll grow it back. |

Costa Rica... until January 4... with the family. We'll see. |

This semester needs to end... I have 3 more finals and one final project due monday. And physics homework due tonight. I'll be the last one out of here, on the 22nd... Another reason is I'm movin to another dorm next semester on the main campus. Sure, I give up a single, but have a look at the top 5 reasons:
1. NO more shuttle rides to campus. Saves up to 2 hours a day 2. Share a bathroom with one person instead of 8. And I assume he doesn't pee all over the floor and not flush the toilets. Also we only have 1 working shower as of now. 3. No balconies. It sounds bad at first... but when the balcony next to you always has at least 3 people smoking pot and being loud between 8pm and 5am, it's very, very good. 4. Roommate who plays halo, and who I can own in Donkey Konga whenever I feel like it (he has no say in the matter). 5. I'm sick of potheads, and assholes. And shuttles. Kitchens and living rooms are way better. |

Hey Journal.
Been mad busy. Practically been up working since Sunday - hopefully
sleep will come soon. Other than sleep things have been okay... I've
been trying to take care of everything, including getting a borrowed
iBook (which is at my house) back to the New School. Matt Frat asks me
to ask my parents to take it, so I do, and tell him I'd try for that
and let him know. Then he comes back with this email:
___
Hi Martin,
For me, this really is the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Janis and I asked over a month ago for the laptop and you didn't
deliver. I asked for you to bring it over thanksgiving break and
you agreed, and you didn't deliver. John P and I asked for it
again and the best you can do is "I'll let you know." You go to
school 10 miles away and your parents are 10 miles away. You can
drive and you have parents who drive. You really don't get
it. Apparently finding a time that is convenient for you is more
important than our educational mission.
As I'm part of the Summer School team, my recommendation to John
Potter, Ted and Janis is to not hire you next summer. I'd rather
work with someone with half of your technical ability but twice the
dependability. There are several current New School students who
currently attend the New School who fit that description and would be
happy to take your slot.
-----
Ok. You want the iBook back. Fine. But this just went
way over the line. I had worked at the New School's summer camp for 3
years (longer than he has been a teacher). I've also been working on
the New School's website, not to mention everything I was involved with
as a student. I've never been "undependable," but good luck finding someone
who won't be such a loose canon like me. Maybe if you just piss everyone off enough,
you won't have to rely on anybody. I had never heard Matt act like this, although I had
heard plenty of stories about it. Anyway I sent this email back:
__
Matt,
Sorry you feel this way. Although I don't recall hearing from you
if/when you would be around during thanksgiving. I do not have a car,
and it's not just a matter of a few hours. During bus times is literally
not possible for me right now. I have asked my parents to do it, and am
still negotiating this - hopefully they can bring it tomorrow. Otherwise
it will just have to wait until next week. After this email I would not
consider coming back for summer; so your recommendations won't be
necessary. I wish your educational mission luck, as it seems it may be
needed the way you have alienated so many people who have been loyal to
the school for so long.
-----
Oh well, I'm done with the New School. I'll probably quit the website
job they just offered me too, this just makes me want nothing to do
with it. I was maybe one of a few people who sort of liked Matt before and didn't know
what everyone else was talking about. Now I do, but I'm sure he'll get it soon enough.
The students don't like him, the alumni don't like him, and I happen to know that the
teachers don't like him either. Good riddance.

What a boring day, good thing I have this emoticon and 'current mood' box to express it. Otherwise who knows what might happen. I should do laundry, but it's 2:30 AM so I'll sleep instead. Woo journal.Current Mood: bored

| » Die Journal |
I just made a live journal, because I'm a tool... and because Juli, also a recently declared tool, made one. Now I'm obligated to be able to bother her and her friends on it.
HOWEVER, to lessen (or increase) my toolhood, I've decided to make my own counter to LiveJournal. My first choice, DeadJournal.com was already registered. The bastard's making people pay to sign up, too. My second choice, LameJournal.com was registered too, and there's not even anything there... they're just reselling it (for a big profit margin of course) =(
Finally, I decided on DieJournal.com. Not only does it imply that journals should die, but it also means TheJournal in German! So once that goes through I'll make my own system, possibly actually use it, and quickly overtake LiveJournal as the place to indirectly force your boyfriend to sign up.
